Hardware Engineer

Lenexa, KS - Full Time

NovaTech Automation is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join our growing team in Lenexa, KS. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology, eager to work on cutting-edge automation equipment, and motivated to contribute to solutions that support critical infrastructure worldwide.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic hardware. You will collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure our products meet rigorous performance, safety, and compliance standards while driving innovation in substation automation. From CAD design to stress testing, you’ll be hands-on in building and refining the systems that power tomorrow’s electrical grids.
 


What You’ll Do
  • Design and Develop: Create printed circuit boards, test hardware, and ruggedized electronic systems.
  • Test & Validate: Design and implement hardware test strategies; conduct stress, performance, and compliance testing to U/L and CE standards.
  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Analyze and resolve issues with power supplies, analog/digital circuits, and communication systems.
  • Collaborate & Document: Work cross-functionally to ensure product quality, maintain design documentation, and uphold quality control standards.
  • Innovate: Apply CAD tools (Altium, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and testing equipment to bring new ideas from concept to production.
 


What We’re Looking For
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4 years of related hardware design and testing experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic CAD software (Altium, SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred).
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (U/L, CE) preferred.
  • Programming experience is a plus, but not required.
